Couples / Marital Therapy
Conflict and disconnection are a normal part of relationships. At times, these seasons of difficulty are harder to move through and regain connection. Couples and/or Marital therapy provides an environment where this reconnection can happen. In couples/marital therapy the client is the relationship; there are no taking sides. The aim is to move towards the couple’s goals in a way that provides long lasting change.
Common issues that couples seek therapy for may include:
Conflict & Communication
Infidelity Recovery
Infertility
Parenting
Role expectations and changes
Discernment Therapy
Separating/Divorcing Effectively
Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT)
EFCT is one of the primary modalities through which couple/marital therapy is treated. EFCT focuses on understanding the negative cycles couples have gotten stuck in (i.e. “Here we go again!”) to reshape the cycle to hold space for connection no matter the content of the conflict. Couples may be in conflict over money, children, or sex, but the way the conflict goes is usually the same. The goal is to provide a safe and secure relationship for couples to thrive in.
